Why Panama?

Panama, strategic place for business

The opening of the Panama Canal, in 1914, has been an important commercial pole and a strategic business crossroads for Panama. Financial services and numerous manufacturing companies have come to complement the canal's industrial and commercial activity, becoming the main engines of national economic growth.

With the expansion of the Panama Canal, a third set of locks increases the service capacity of large ships and doubles the installed capacity of this maritime strait, generating new jobs.

Although it is not a society exempt from crime and criminal acts, an air of security and tranquility is breathed in its cities. Numerous Latin Americans have found in the Panamanian capital the happy home, devoid of chronic violence, that they sought for the safety of their family.

Adaptation in Panama

People who move to Panama favorably adapt to Panamanian culture and idiosyncrasies. In addition to the fact that Panama has geographical proximity to many of these people, Panama is, on average, between three and five hours away from almost the entire American continent. It is also worth noting that they manage to establish a large networking group with other foreigners, which facilitate access to the job market, commercial and investment activities.

USD in Panama

Panama's economy is based on the US dollar (USD), which is the country's official currency. The balboa (PAB), Panama's own currency, is equivalent in size and value to the US dollar.

This means an enormous economic advantage for many immigrants, who must send international funds (remittances) to help support their relatives in their respective places of origin.
